Ingredients
- 1 poundground beef
- 4 cupbroccoli florets
- 4 clovegarlic
- 1 tablespoonginger
- 3 tablespoonsoy sauce
- 1 tablespoonrice vinegar
- 1 teaspoonhoney
- 2 tablespoonvegetable oil
- ¼ teaspoonred pepper flakes
- ½ cupwater
- ½ teaspoonsesame oil
Prep
- 01
Mince 4 cloves garlic.
- 02
Mince 1 tablespoon fresh ginger (or use ground ginger if fresh is unavailable).
- 03
Cut 1 large head broccoli into bite-sized florets, about 4 cups total.
Method
- 01
Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it into small pieces as it browns, for 5-7 minutes until no pink remains. Drain excess fat if needed.
- 02
Push the beef to the side of the skillet. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon oil to the empty space and add the minced garlic and ginger. Cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- 03
Add the broccoli florets to the skillet and stir everything together. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 04
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, red pepper flakes, and water. Pour the sauce over the beef and broccoli.
- 05
Bring to a simmer and cook for 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the broccoli is tender-crisp and the sauce has thickened slightly.
- 06
Drizzle with sesame oil, stir, and serve immediately over rice or noodles if desired.
Spice Tips
For more heat, increase red pepper flakes to 1/2 teaspoon or add a pinch of white pepper. A splash of sriracha or chili garlic sauce stirred in at the end adds depth and spice. Fresh scallions scattered on top add brightness.
Serve over steamed rice, jasmine rice, or cooked noodles for a complete meal. Leftovers keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
