Ingredients

  • 1 poundground beef
  • 1 poundbroccoli
  • 4 clovesgarlic
  • 1 tablespoonfresh ginger
  • 3 tablespoonsoy sauce
  • 1 tablespoonrice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoonhoney
  • 2 tablespoonvegetable oil
  • ½ teaspoonsesame oil
  • ¼ teaspoonred pepper flakes (optional)

Prep

  1. 01

    Mince 4 cloves garlic.

  2. 02

    Mince 1 tablespoon fresh ginger.

  3. 03

Cut 1 pound broccoli into bite-sized florets.

Method

  1. 01

Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart as it browns, until no pink remains, about 5 to 6 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed. Transfer beef to a plate.

  2. 02

Add remaining 1 tablespoon oil to the same skillet over medium-high heat. Add broccoli florets in a single layer and let them sit undisturbed for 2 to 3 minutes until the bottoms char slightly. Stir and cook another 2 to 3 minutes until the broccoli is tender-crisp and lightly browned.

  3. 03

Return beef to the skillet. Add minced garlic and ginger, stirring constantly, for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

  4. 04

Pour in soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, and red pepper flakes if using. Toss everything together and cook for 1 minute, letting the sauce coat the beef and broccoli. Drizzle with sesame oil.

  5. 05

Serve immediately over rice or on its own.

Spice Tips

For extra warmth, increase red pepper flakes to 1/2 teaspoon or add a pinch of white pepper. A squeeze of fresh lime juice at the end brightens the dish. If you prefer more umami depth, stir in 1/4 teaspoon white miso paste with the sauce.
