Ingredients

  • 1 poundground beef
  • 1 poundbroccoli florets
  • 3 tablespoonsoy sauce
  • 2 tablespoonrice vinegar
  • 4 clovesgarlic
  • 1 tablespoonginger
  • 2 tablespoonchili crisp
  • 1 tablespoonsesame oil
  • 2 tablespoonvegetable oil
  • ¼ teaspoonred pepper flakes
  • 1 to tastesalt and black pepper

Prep

  1. 01

    Mince 4 cloves garlic.

  2. 02

    Mince 1 tablespoon fresh ginger.

  3. 03

Cut 1 pound broccoli into bite-sized florets.

Method

  1. 01

Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large skillet over high heat until shimmering. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it into small pieces, until browned and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes. Transfer to a plate.

  2. 02

Add the remaining 1 tablespoon oil to the skillet. Add broccoli florets and cook, stirring occasionally, until tender-crisp and lightly charred at the edges, about 5-6 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

  3. 03

Return the beef to the skillet. Stir in the soy sauce, rice vinegar, chili crisp, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Toss everything together and cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce coats all the ingredients.

  4. 04

Taste and adjust seasoning with more salt, pepper, or chili crisp if desired. Serve over rice.

Spice Tips

This recipe builds heat from chili crisp and red pepper flakes for a pleasant burn. For milder palates, reduce the chili crisp to 1 tablespoon and omit the red pepper flakes. For serious heat lovers, add another 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes or drizzle with more chili crisp before serving. Fresh cilantro or sliced scallions add a bright, cooling contrast.

Serve over steamed white or brown rice. For extra heat, add more chili crisp or a pinch of cayenne pepper. Chili crisp (like Lao Gan Ma) is available in most supermarkets in the international or condiment aisle.
