- 6 clovesgarlic
- 3 tablespoonsoy sauce
- 1 tablespoonrice vinegar
- 1 tablespoonhoney
- ½ teaspoonred pepper flakes
- 2 tablespoonsesame oil
- 2 tablespoonneutral oil
- 1 tablespoonginger
- 3 stalkscallions
- ·sesame seeds
Prep
- 01
Mince 6 cloves garlic.
- 02
Mince 1 tablespoon fresh ginger.
- 03
Cut broccoli into florets.
- 04
Slice 3 scallions, keeping white and green parts separate.
Method
- 01
Heat 1 tablespoon neutral oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned, 5–7 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed, then transfer beef to a plate.
- 02
In the same skillet, add remaining 1 tablespoon neutral oil. Add broccoli florets and cook, stirring occasionally, until they start to char and soften, about 6–8 minutes. If the pan is dry, add 2–3 tablespoons water, cover briefly, and steam.
- 03
Push broccoli to the edges of the skillet. Add sesame oil to the center, then add minced garlic and ginger. Stir constantly for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- 04
Return cooked beef to the skillet. Stir in soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, and red pepper flakes. Toss everything together and cook for 1–2 minutes until the sauce coats the beef and broccoli.
- 05
Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Transfer to a serving plate, top with sliced scallions and sesame seeds, and serve hot.
Spice Tips
The red pepper flakes deliver a moderate kick. For more heat, add an extra 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes or a pinch of cayenne. For less spice, reduce or omit the pepper flakes and drizzle with a touch of honey instead. A squeeze of fresh lime juice at the end adds brightness.
Serve over steamed rice or noodles to soak up the bold sauce. For extra heat, drizzle a small splash of chili oil on top after plating.
