Mince 4 cloves garlic.
- 02
Halve 1 pound cherry tomatoes.
- 03
Dice 1 medium yellow onion.
Method

Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and no pink remains, about 5–7 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
- 02
Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- 03
Add the halved cherry tomatoes and cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes begin to soften and release their juices.
- 04
Stir in the diced onion and the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Cook for 2–3 minutes until the onion softens slightly.
- 05
Tear in most of the fresh basil, reserving a small handful for garnish. Stir gently and cook for 1 minute more.
- 06
Taste and adjust seasoning. Serve hot, garnished with the remaining fresh basil.
Spice Tips
For warmth, add a pinch more red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce stirred in at the end. A squeeze of fresh lemon juice brightens the tomatoes. For deeper flavor, stir in 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar or a pinch of oregano.
