Add the diced sweet potato and stir to coat in oil. Cook for 2 minutes.

Pour in 1 cup chicken broth. Add 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon dried sage (or 1 teaspoon fresh), and a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir well.
- 05
Reduce heat to medium, cover, and simmer 12–15 minutes, stirring once or twice, until sweet potato is tender.
- 06
Taste and adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, and more sage if desired. Serve warm.
Spice Tips
For warmth, add 1/4 teaspoon ginger or a pinch of nutmeg to the broth. For subtle heat, include a pinch of cayenne pepper. A squeeze of fresh lemon juice at the end brightens the earthiness of the sweet potato.
Serve over rice, couscous, or with crusty bread to soak up the broth. Leftovers keep 3 days refrigerated and reheat beautifully.
