Peel and cut sweet potato into 1/2-inch cubes (about 4 cups).
- 02
Dice 1 medium yellow onion.
- 03
Mince 3 cloves garlic.
Method
- 01
Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add ground turkey and cook, breaking it into small pieces, for 5–6 minutes until no pink remains. Transfer to a plate.
- 02
Add remaining 1 tablespoon oil to the skillet. Add diced onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened. Stir in minced garlic, cumin, paprika, and cinnamon; cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- 03
Return turkey to the skillet. Add diced sweet potato, chicken broth, cranberries, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
- 04
Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and cook for 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sweet potato is tender and liquid has reduced by half.
- 05
Taste and adjust seasoning. Top with chopped fresh parsley and serve warm.
Spice Tips
For deeper warmth, add 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger or a pinch of cayenne. A squeeze of fresh lemon juice at the end brightens all the warm spices. Swap dried cranberries for raisins or diced apricots if you prefer.
Leftovers taste even better the next day. Serve with rice, couscous, or flatbread to soak up the spiced sauce, or over a bed of greens for a lighter option.
