Turkish-Spiced Ground Turkey with Crispy Chickpeas
Ingredients
- 1 poundground turkey
- 1 can (15 oz)chickpeas
- ·yellow onion
- ·garlic
- 1 can (14 oz)diced tomatoes
- 2 tablespoontomato paste
- 1 teaspoonpaprika
- ¾ teaspooncumin
- ¼ teaspooncinnamon
- 2 tablespoonolive oil

Dice 1 medium yellow onion.

Mince 2 cloves garlic.

Drain and rinse 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas.
Method

Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Add 1 pound ground turkey and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 5–7 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.

Stir in the diced onion and cook for 2 minutes until softened. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

Stir in 2 tablespoons tomato paste, 1 teaspoon paprika, 3/4 teaspoon cumin, and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon. Cook for 1 minute.

Add the drained canned chickpeas and diced tomatoes (with juice). Stir well.

Simmer over medium heat for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Serve in bowls topped with fresh cilantro.
Spice Tips
For deeper warmth, add another 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon. For heat, stir in a pinch of cayenne or red pepper flakes. A squeeze of fresh lemon juice at the end brightens the whole dish.
Serve over rice, couscous, or with warm pita. Leftovers keep refrigerated for up to 3 days.
