Ingredients

  • 1½ poundslarge shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 3 tablespoonsolive oil
  • 6 clovesgarlic
  • ½ teaspoonred pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoonpaprika (smoked)
  • ¾ cuppanko breadcrumbs
  • 1lemon
  • 1 to tastesalt and black pepper
  • ¼ cupfresh parsley (packed)

Prep

  1. 01

    Mince 6 cloves garlic.

  2. 02

    Chop 1/4 cup fresh parsley.

  3. 03

Cut 1 lemon into wedges or halves for juicing.

Method

  1. 01

Heat 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add panko breadcrumbs and toast for 2–3 minutes, stirring constantly, until golden and fragrant. Transfer to a small bowl and set aside.

  2. 02

In the same skillet, add remaining 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes; cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

  3. 03

Add shrimp in a single layer and season with smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for 2 minutes without stirring, then flip and cook another 2–3 minutes until pink and cooked through.

  4. 04

Squeeze lemon juice over the shrimp. Toss to coat. Remove from heat.

  5. 05

Transfer shrimp to a serving plate. Top with toasted breadcrumbs and chopped parsley. Serve immediately.

Spice Tips

For more heat, increase red pepper flakes to 3/4 teaspoon or add a pinch of cayenne. For less spice, reduce red pepper flakes to 1/4 teaspoon. A dash of hot sauce drizzled over the finished dish adds extra punch and complexity.

Serve over pasta, rice, or crusty bread to catch the garlicky oil and breadcrumbs. For a lighter meal, serve with a simple green salad.
