- 01
Peel and devein 1 pound large shrimp.
- 02
Mince 6 cloves garlic.
- 03
Slice 4 scallions on the bias.
- 04
Cut 1 lime into wedges.
Method
- 01
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook egg noodles according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- 02
While noodles cook, combine 3 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon rice vinegar, and 1/2 tablespoon honey in a small bowl. Set the sauce aside.
- 03
Heat 2 tablespoons vegetable oil in a large skillet over high heat until shimmering. Add shrimp and cook 2 minutes per side until just opaque. Transfer to a plate.
- 04
In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium. Add remaining 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, then add minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Cook for 30 seconds, stirring constantly, until fragrant.
- 05
Return shrimp to the skillet and pour in the soy-vinegar sauce. Toss to coat and cook for 1 minute.
- 06
Add cooked noodles to the skillet and drizzle with 1 tablespoon sesame oil. Toss everything together until hot and well combined, about 1 minute.
- 07
Divide into bowls and top with sliced scallions and a squeeze of fresh lime juice.
Spice Tips
The red pepper flakes deliver a steady burn here. For more intensity, add a pinch of cayenne pepper in step 4 or finish with a drizzle of chili-garlic sauce. Fresh cilantro stirred in at the end adds cooling brightness if the heat builds too high.
This dish comes together in under 20 minutes. For extra heat, increase red pepper flakes to 3/4 teaspoon or stir in a teaspoon of sriracha at the end. You can swap rice noodles for egg noodles if preferred.
