Ingredients
- 1½ poundsbrussels sprouts
- 3 tablespoonolive oil
- 6 clovegarlic
- 1lemon
- ·salt
- ·black pepper
- ¼ teaspoonred pepper flakes
Prep
- 01
Trim brussels sprouts and slice thinly (about 1/4 inch).
- 02
Thinly slice 6 garlic cloves.
Method
- 01
Heat 3 tablespoons olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- 02
Add the thinly sliced garlic and cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant and just beginning to turn golden, stirring often. Transfer to a small bowl with a pinch of salt.
- 03
Increase heat to high and add brussels sprouts to the same skillet in a single layer. Don't stir—let them sit for 4–5 minutes until the bottoms are deeply browned.
- 04
Stir and cook for another 4–5 minutes until most are caramelized and tender-crisp.
- 05
Remove from heat. Squeeze half the lemon over the sprouts, season with 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, then toss gently.
- 06
Transfer to a serving bowl, top with the crispy garlic and any oil from its bowl, and finish with a pinch of red pepper flakes. Cut the remaining lemon half into wedges and serve alongside.
Spice Tips
For warmth, increase the red pepper flakes to 1/2 teaspoon or add a small pinch of cayenne. A touch of garlic powder (1/4 teaspoon) deepens savory notes if you like extra depth.
