  • 1½ poundschicken breast (boneless, skinless)
  • 6 cupsbroccoli florets
  • 4 clovesgarlic
  • 1 tablespoonfresh ginger
  • 3 tablespoonssoy sauce
  • 1 tablespoonrice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoonhoney
  • 2 tablespoonsolive oil
  • ½ teaspoonsesame oil
  • ¼ cupwater
  • ¼ teaspoonred pepper flakes

Method

  1. 01

Cut chicken breasts into 1-inch bite-sized pieces. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  2. 02

Season chicken with salt and pepper. Add to the hot skillet and cook for 5–6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden and cooked through. Transfer to a plate.

  3. 03

Add remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil to the skillet. Add broccoli florets and cook for 4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned.

  4. 04

Pour in 1/4 cup water, cover, and steam for 3 minutes until broccoli is tender-crisp.

  5. 05

Return chicken to the skillet. Add the garlic-ginger mixture and red pepper flakes. Stir in soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, and sesame oil.

  6. 06

Toss everything together for 1–2 minutes until the glaze coats the chicken and broccoli. Taste and adjust seasoning. Serve hot, optionally over rice.

Spice Tips

For more heat, increase red pepper flakes to 1/2 teaspoon or add a pinch of white pepper. For deeper umami, swap 1 tablespoon of soy sauce for tamari. A splash of lime juice at the end brightens the glaze.
