- 02
Dice 1 yellow onion into 1/2-inch pieces.
- 03
Mince 4 cloves garlic.
Method

Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 pound ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and no pink remains, about 5 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
- 02
Add the diced peppers, diced onion, and minced garlic to the skillet. Stir well and cook for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring often, until the peppers begin to soften and the onion becomes translucent.
- 03
Stir in 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. Cook for 1 minute more until everything is coated and fragrant. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
- 04
While the beef finishes cooking, toast 4 slices of bread until golden. Spread 3 tablespoons butter evenly across the hot toast.
- 05
Divide the beef and peppers among four plates and serve alongside buttered toast.
Spice Tips
For gentle heat, add 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes to the beef as it cooks. For deeper savor, stir in 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil at the end. A splash of rice vinegar (1 tablespoon) brightens the pan and balances the soy.
