Buttered Rice with Garlic and Thyme
Ingredients
- 1½ cupslong-grain white rice
- 3 cupschicken broth
- 3 tablespoonsbutter
- 4 clovesgarlic
- 4 sprigsfresh thyme

Mince 4 cloves garlic.

Measure out 1 1/2 cups rice and 3 cups chicken broth.
Method

Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large saucepan over medium heat.

Add the rice and stir constantly for 2 to 3 minutes, until lightly toasted and fragrant.

Pour in the chicken broth, add the thyme sprigs, and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat to low, cover with a lid, and simmer for 15 to 18 minutes, until the rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.

Remove from heat, discard thyme sprigs, and stir in the remaining 1 tablespoon butter. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Spice Tips
For deeper flavor, add a pinch of white pepper or nutmeg along with the butter in step 5. A squeeze of fresh lemon juice brightens the dish nicely. For a hint of warmth, stir in 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika.
