Ingredients

  • 1 poundshrimp (large, peeled and deveined)
  • 1 poundbroccoli
  • 4 tablespoonbutter
  • 6 clovesgarlic
  • ½ cupdry white wine
  • 1lemon
  • ¼ teaspoonred pepper flakes
  • ·salt
  • ·black pepper

Prep

  1. 01

    Cut broccoli into bite-sized florets.

  2. 02

    Mince 6 cloves garlic.

Method

  1. 01

Heat 2 tablespoons butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once foaming, add shrimp in a single layer and cook 2 minutes per side until pink and just cooked through. Season with salt and pepper. Transfer to a plate.

  2. 02

In the same skillet, melt remaining 2 tablespoons butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes, stirring constantly for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

  3. 03

Pour in white wine, scraping up any browned bits from the pan. Simmer for 2 minutes to reduce slightly.

  4. 04

Return shrimp to the skillet along with the broccoli. Toss to coat. Cook 3 to 4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until broccoli is tender-crisp and shrimp is heated through.

  5. 05

Squeeze juice from 1 lemon over everything. Taste and adjust salt and pepper. Serve immediately over rice or with crusty bread.

Spice Tips

Red pepper flakes already add gentle heat. For more spice, increase flakes to 1/2 teaspoon or add a pinch of cayenne. A handful of fresh parsley stirred in at the end adds brightness.

Shrimp cooks very quickly, so don't walk away from the stove. Serve over steamed rice, pasta, or with crusty bread to soak up the buttery sauce. For a richer version, finish with a splash of heavy cream.
