Ingredients

  • 1 poundshrimp (large, peeled and deveined)
  • 4 tablespoonbutter
  • 6 clovesgarlic
  • ½ cupdry white wine
  • 1lemon
  • ¼ teaspoonred pepper flakes
  • ·salt
  • ·black pepper
  • 1 loafcrusty bread

Prep

  1. 01

    Mince 6 cloves garlic

  2. 02

    Juice 1 lemon

Method

  1. 01

Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and season with salt and pepper. Sauté until pink on the first side, about 2 minutes, then flip and cook for another minute. Transfer to a plate.

  2. 02

In the same skillet, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons butter. Add the garlic and red pepper flakes, stirring constantly for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

  3. 03

Pour in the white wine and lemon juice, scraping up any browned bits from the pan. Let it simmer for 1–2 minutes to reduce slightly.

  4. 04

Return the shrimp to the skillet and toss gently to coat in the sauce. Cook for another 30 seconds until heated through. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.

  5. 05

Serve immediately in shallow bowls with crusty bread for soaking up the buttery lemon sauce.

Spice Tips

For a gentle warmth, the recipe uses just a pinch of red pepper flakes. If you like more heat, add up to 1/2 teaspoon. A splash of hot sauce at the table also works beautifully. Fresh herbs like parsley or tarragon can be stirred in at the end for brightness.
