Seared Steak with Charred Broccolini and Lemon Aioli
Ingredients
- 2 steaks (8 oz each)beef sirloin or strip steak (room temperature)
- 1 poundbroccolini
- 4 clovesgarlic
- 1lemon
- ½ cupmayonnaise
- 3 tablespoonsolive oil

Prep

Mince 3 cloves garlic. Roast in a dry pan over low heat for 1–2 minutes until fragrant, then let cool.

Zest and juice 1 lemon.

Remove steaks from refrigerator 15 minutes before cooking to bring to room temperature.
Method

Pat steaks dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.

Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until smoking. Sear steaks 4–5 minutes per side for medium-rare. Transfer to a plate to rest for 5 minutes.

In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon olive oil and broccolini. Cook 4–5 minutes, tossing occasionally, until charred and tender. Season with salt and pepper.

Stir together mayonnaise, minced roasted garlic, zest of 1 lemon, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Drizzle over steaks and broccolini.

Serve steaks and broccolini immediately with lemon aioli on the side.
Spice Tips
For a peppery kick, crack fresh black pepper over the lemon aioli or dust the broccolini with smoked paprika. A pinch of red pepper flakes adds gentle heat without overpowering the fresh lemon flavor.
