Ingredients

  • 1½ poundsturkey breast (about 1.5 inches thick)
  • 2 tablespoonolive oil
  • ½ teaspoonred chile flakes
  • 2lime
  • 4 clovesgarlic
  • 2 tablespoonhoney
  • 1 tablespoonsoy sauce
  • 2 mediumshallots
  • ½ teaspoonsalt
  • ¼ teaspoonblack pepper
  • ¼ cupfresh cilantro

Prep

  1. 01

Juice 2 limes and mince 4 cloves garlic.

  2. 02

Slice 2 medium shallots into thin rings.

  3. 03

    Chop 1/4 cup fresh cilantro.

Method

  1. 01

Pat the turkey breast dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and pepper.

  2. 02

Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once shimmering, add the turkey breast and cook for 5–6 minutes per side, until golden brown. Transfer to a plate.

  3. 03

In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, juice from 2 limes, minced garlic, and red chile flakes.

  4. 04

Return the turkey to the skillet, pour the glaze over it, and reduce heat to medium. Simmer for 3–4 minutes, spooning glaze over the meat, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.

  5. 05

Transfer the turkey to a cutting board and let rest for 3 minutes. Meanwhile, heat the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil in a small pan over medium-high heat, add the sliced shallots, and cook for 2–3 minutes until crispy and golden.

  6. 06

Slice the turkey, plate it, drizzle with any remaining glaze, and top with crispy shallots and fresh cilantro.

Spice Tips

For deeper heat, increase red chile flakes to 3/4 teaspoon or add a pinch of cayenne. If you prefer less fire, reduce the flakes to 1/4 teaspoon. A dash of hot sauce (sriracha or your favorite) swirled into the glaze just before serving adds complexity without extra cooking.
